Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of nsku.studio and everything on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site.
1. Who runs this site
nsku.studio (“NSKU”, “we”, “us”) is operated by [FILL: legal name]. You can reach us at [FILL: contact email].
2. What the site is
NSKU is a portfolio and a set of free browser tools:
- The visual gallery, an audio-reactive WebGL piece you can drive with your own microphone or audio files.
- The Drum Lab and PO-32 Transfer, browser instruments that synthesise sounds and let you export them.
- The SP-1 Tape Looper guide, documentation for third-party, community-made firmware.
Everything is provided free of charge. There are no accounts, no subscriptions and no payments.
3. The SP-1 guide, and hardware in general
The SP-1 Tape Looper guide documents unofficial, community-made firmware that is not ours. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Teenage Engineering. We did not write that firmware and we do not distribute it.
Installing custom firmware on hardware you own is done entirely at your own risk. It can void your warranty, erase your saved work, or render a device unusable. We provide the guide as information only, with no warranty that it is accurate, current or complete, and we accept no liability for any damage to any device, or any loss of data or recordings, arising from following it.
Product names, including SP-1 and PO-32, are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify the hardware being described. Their use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
4. Using the site
You may use NSKU for any lawful purpose. You may not:
- use it in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone’s rights;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure;
- upload or process content through it that you do not have the right to use;
- misrepresent the site or its content as your own, or as endorsed by us.
5. Your audio
When you use your microphone or open an audio file, that audio is analysed in your browser. It is never uploaded to us and we never receive, store or hear it. You keep all rights in anything you bring to the site, and you are responsible for having the right to use it.
Sounds you design and export from the Drum Lab are yours. Use them freely, including commercially.
6. Our content
The visual work, the writing, the design and the code of this site belong to us or to our licensors, except where stated below. You may link to the site and quote reasonable extracts with attribution. You may not republish substantial parts of it as your own.
Third-party material used here under licence:
- Head scan: “Infinite” by Lee Perry-Smith, used under CC BY 3.0.
- Soundtrack: “Vector Equilibriums” by Pharoelidae, used with permission.
- The SP-1 guide is an independent rewrite of documentation published under the MIT licence by the sp1-tape-looper project.
7. No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will work on any particular device or browser. WebGL and Web Audio behave differently across hardware, and some features need permissions your browser may refuse.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of recordings, damage to hardware, or lost profits arising from your use of the site or anything you obtained through it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Links out
We link to third-party sites, including GitHub, the Solderless updater and Instagram. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, their terms or their privacy practices.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [FILL: country], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the country you live in.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms: [FILL: contact email].
